Zsofia Labady

Degree: Master in Accounting

College/School: Chapman Graduate School of Business College of Business

Zsofia Labady was recruited to the FIU women’s basketball team in the summer of 2011 from her native Hungary, where she won national accolades for her scholarship and athletic performance. While her parents remained in Hungary, she continued as an outstanding scholar-athlete during her undergraduate career at the College of Business, combining the rigors of varsity sports with a double major in accounting and international business, graduating a semester early, in December 2014.

And while she missed her family in Hungary, she had more to accomplish at FIU.

Zsofia opted to finish out her FIU hoops career with the 2015 season as she began the demanding Master of Accounting program. With a 25- to 30-hour weekly training commitment and regular travel for games, Zsofia’s disciplined approach enabled her to keep up with coursework and participate in group projects remotely while immersing herself on the court at game time. As a result, she received the Hustle Award for her team at the 2014-2015 Athletic Awards banquet and was named a Conference USA Academic Medal Winner.

When her FIU basketball career ended in 2015, Zsofia became a graduate assistant at the College of Business’ finance and administration department, working 20-hour weeks while studying for—and passing—the first three portions of the CPA licensing exam.

With her academic career coming to a close, Zsofia has accepted an offer to join PwC’s assurance practice in Washington, D.C. in January 2016.
