Grad Instructions

  1. Arrive at least 1 hour and prior to the start of the ceremony. Doors open 1 hour before the ceremony, but arriving early will help you beat the traffic that builds up outside the Ocean Bank Convocation Center
  2. Bring your commencement pass filled out. You must have your pass with you the day of your ceremony in order for you to be able to walk. Please also fill out the back of the pass with your personal information ahead of time
  3. Keep your cap and gown off. You need to pass through security before you can put your cap and gown on. There will be mirrors inside the entrance to adjust your regalia once you are able to put it on
  4. Enter the convocation center through gate 4. Graduates do not march into the convocation center and there is no rehearsal before the ceremony. This entrance is graduates only. There will be signs to direct you to the gate
  5. Find your seat with your college or school. Graduates are seated with their graduating school or college on the main floor of the convocation center. Guests are not permitted in graduate seating. Please remain in your seat until the end of the ceremony
  6. Don’t panic if you're late. Doors close at the beginning of the ceremony but graduates and guests who are late will be admitted after the ceremony starts
  7. Agree on a meeting place before the ceremony. We recommend you plan before commencement on a place to meet your guests. This will help you find them in the crowds at the end of the ceremony
  8. Share your memories with #FIUGrad. We pick the best tweets, photos and posts to publish on FIU News, so get sharing!
