Phytiema Johnson
Degree: Master of Business Administration
College: College of Business
Phytiema Johnson is an attorney who has served as a prosecutor for the seventh and ninth judicial circuits and the Department of Children and Families and is now opening her own firm. However, education was not always central to her life as she was growing up.
Her father worked long hours to provide for his family, and her mother was often absent. Determined to break free from poverty and the lack of support, Phytiema pursued an education to provide for her family and support her two daughters and husband. She earned her JD from the Florida Coastal School of Law and her MBA from FIU. From high school to graduate school, she consistently earned a variety of honors and awards.
Phytiema hopes to become a pillar in the community by using her access to the law and court system to advocate for her community. Although she was at first hesitant to work in family law, she realized her background allowed her to do meaningful work in that area.
Now, with the opening of her own law firm, Phytiema is excited for the impact she will make. FIU’s MBA program gave her the tools she needs to reach out to clients and understand the business side of managing a law firm. She hopes to provide affordable representation to a variety of communities.
