Nicholas Conway

Nicholas Conway is a proud Panther. As a first-generation student, he feels FIU gave him an invaluable opportunity to improve his life, and he wanted to leave FIU a better place.

That is why, despite the rigors of medical school, Nicholas found time to balance making a difference as a student leader and advocate with his research while ensuring his academic success.

Nicholas served as his class representative to the Association of American Medical Colleges, the governing body for all medical schools, and president of the medical school’s American Medical Association Chapter. 

At the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, he served on the Medical Student Council and volunteered as a peer tutor and medical student ambassador. In addition, he was editor-in-chief of the student-run Florida Medical Student Research Journal.

Nicholas also conducted research analyzing racial disparities in HPV vaccination and innovative teaching pedagogies. His award-winning curricular research employed the immersive escape room experience to teach medical students advanced cardiac life support. It’s now part of the medical school curriculum.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology honored Nicholas with its Medical Student Award for Outstanding Achievement. And FIU named him the 2023 Graduate Student Leader of the Year.

After graduation, Nicholas will train as an obstetrician/gynecologist at Rutgers University in his home state of New Jersey. Then, he wants to specialize in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He says is greatest goal is to be father and wants to help people dealing with infertility experience parenthood.
