Raymond Wu’s entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic comes from his parents, who left China in search of a better life for themselves and their future family. They opened a Chinese restaurant in Miami, and as soon as Raymond was able, he worked there every day after school and on the weekends.
With his father as a role model, Raymond started his own business in high school, collecting sneakers and selling them for a profit. One day, his friend got scammed, giving rise to Sneakheat, an online company for buying and selling sneakers that offers a safer way to make transactions. He and his partner recently scouted office space in California.
In the meantime, Raymond went to Japan with another friend and, while at an auto auction, realized the potential market for exporting classic and exotic Japanese vehicles to the United States. Raymond secured a rare car so he could auction it off in Fort Lauderdale. To better learn the business and market himself, he signed on as a sales representative for Wheels Boutique.
Raymond also helped his parents start a third restaurant and continues to work for them, all while maintaining a 3.15 GPA. That could be why Raymond was awarded a scholarship to the University of Miami for a master’s degree in finance. His dream? To earn an MBA, launch more businesses and “leave the world with a legacy and in a better place.”
