Jordan Johnson
Degree: Bachelor of Business Administration
College/School: College of Business
Entrepreneurship has been a constant in Jordan Johnson’s life. From a young age he wanted to start a business, and he has launched three in eight years.
As a high school student, Jordan operated a mobile phone business, buying them at wholesale prices and reselling them in markets including China, France, Spain, Italy, and North Africa. Upon graduating, he spent two years working aboard luxury private yachts, saving money to pursue his business education.
Jordan studied the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in France and worked with a British manufacturing company in China during the summers.
He also was recruited as a political researcher on the “Britain Stronger In Europe” initiative, a campaign by the top 50 British CEO’s to keep the United Kingdom in Europe.
Arriving at FIU as a transfer student from France in fall 2016, within a month, Jordan launched Clutch Couture Bags, a luxury handbag rental service. He was one of 15 Miami-area business owners, from an applicant field of 160, selected for StartUP FIU EMPOWER, a 14-week business accelerator program.
Most recently Jordan helped launch the StartUP FIU West Kendall tech incubator, a community space focused on the learning, development and creation of emerging technologies.
In January, Jordan will start as a district manager at ALDI grocery chain, a job that evolved from a summer internship via Career Management Services’ Career Fair to a full-time position. In September 2017, he became ALDI’s first-ever Student Ambassador for FIU. Under Jordan’s stewardship, two FIU students have secured competitive internships at ALDI.
