Tameka Hannon

Degree: Master of Business Administration

College: College of Business

For Tameka Hannon, adversity was the driving force behind her success. At a young age, she faced traumatic childhood events that left her feeling abandoned. Tameka pushed adversity and doubters aside and pursued her education, determined to spend her life using challenges as her fuel.

Working at the Sarasota County School District, Tameka received six promotions in nine years, taught herself coding skills along the way, and now reports to the COO in an operations position. Her FIU MBA helped her earn her most recent promotion and a higher salary in addition to expanding her network.

Getting her master’s degree was no easy task, as Tameka is also the mom to five boys under the age of 19. She manages this with a strong support team; mainly her husband, former NFL player Chris Hannon (MBA ’17). Together, they give back to the community through Team Hannon Foundation, a non-profit organization that strives to create opportunities for success in the community.

Tameka and Chris Hannon

As part of her work with Women of the NFL, Tameka has spoken to women who have been abused, urging them to believe in themselves and push for what they want in life, regardless of adversity. Her message to those facing challenges: reach out for therapy and support, and know that above all, you’re not alone.
