Rossana Zotti

Degree: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

College/School: College of Engineering & Computing

Rossana Zotti’s senior design project is a hospital patient transfer system that allows one nurse to move a patient from one bed to another, regardless of the patient’s weight. Rossana and her team collaborated with the S.T.A.R. Center at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences. The system minimizes injuries to nurses’ backs and wrists, reduces patient pain during the transfer, and frees up medical staff to treat other patients. Rossana also was involved in community service through the Society of Women Engineers. In the machine shop, she taught and empowered other students, particularly women, showing them they could work with heavy equipment. This summer, Rossana will work as a research and development engineer at Boston Scientific in Massachusetts.
